One of the great advantages our school has is location. As we are a city centre school, most of the city's great resources are within walking distance.
So, having successfully nabbed a slot with visiting children's author Nicola Pierce, 5th and 6th classes walked over to Cork City Library on Grand Parade, arriving just on time for the start of Nicola's presentation.
She was fascinating and allowed the girls an insight to the life and work of a busy, published writer.
She writes historical fiction novels for children and her books include such titles as King of the Boyne, set in 1690 around the Battle of the Boyne between the kings William and James, Behind the Walls, about the siege of Derry in 1689 and one of her most successful titles, Spirit of the Titanic which concerns the last voyage of the great ship in 1912.
