Fifth class were given the responsibility for the school assembly marking the official first day of spring.
With their parents safely seated at the back of the assembly room and the other classes seated in their rows, the girls started with a short and sweet poem pondering the magic of the new green shoots springing from the pots which they had planted all the way back in the early winter.
They had arranged an exhibition of some of the construction work they have completed in art class: their bridges. Each pair or threesome did a short presentation on their own bridge.
Their last item was a very special preview performance of The Jabberwoky by Lewis Carroll. Their drama teacher, Laura Odorici, is preparing two pieces with them for their performance in the Feis Maitiú. Their rendition of The Jabberwoky is very impressive and turns quite a difficult nonsense poem into an exciting, dramatic tale, riveting and even a little scary.
