SCOIL MHUIRE JUNIOR SCHOOL

Interschools Showjumping - 5 March 2017

March 8, 2017

This was only the second time the Junior School has entered the Interschools Showjumping for primary schools.

We fielded a team of three with the help of a cousin of one of the riders.  Our team consisted of Robyn from 6th on Will, Mickaela from 5th on Scott and Sebastian (Robyn's cousin) on Fergie.

Ponies and riders were turned out very beautifully and you could see the careful hours of preparation put in by the children and their families, especially their parents.  They all had the Scoil Mhuire royal blue numnah or saddle cloth, emblazoned with the school crest, under their saddle and they wore their school rain jackets.  Sebastian managed to find a riding jacket that perfectly matched the team colour.

Each team member jumped two clear rounds and the decider was a round against the clock.  We had bad luck in that we were the first team out and we had to set the bar for others to beat. Mickaela and Scott completed another clear round in excellent time. Unfortunately, others coming later managed to beat their time.

We came 6th overall and were very happy indeed with a faultless performance.

Here's the team with their rosettes.

Mickaela and Scott went on to compete in the individuals competition and came an excellent 4th.
