Fifth class girls entered the Feis Maitiú this spring. Their category was Girls Choral Speaking, under 13. Laura Odorici directed them.
They performed two poems. The first was a set piece: Fashion Parade by Clive Sansom. The second was The Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll.
The girls and Laura worked really hard on their performance and it was perfect - even down to their identical hair plaits.
It was genuinely stunning. Even though they were as nervous as kittens just before going on stage, they performed with confidence and aplomb - the timing perfect, the smiles natural. As our girls were coming off stage I overheard one of the children from another school seated behind us say "Well that was impressive".
And yes - they took first prize!
You will get a final chance to see their performance at our Music Morning on 9 May. Don't miss it!
