Orange and grapefruit laundry powder

Ingredients

¨ 500g/1lb 20Z borax substitute

¨ Good up to 12 months

¨ 500g/1lb 20Z soda crystals

¨ 250g/ goz bicarbonate

¨ 2 bars (or 300g/10 and a half oz) castile soap or vegetable –based soap grated (see tip below)

¨ 20 drops of sweet orange essential oil

¨ 20 drops of grape fruit essential oil

¨ 1.5kg/3lb 5oz lidded glass jar

STEPS

¨ Mix togher the soda crystals,borax substitute and bicarbonate of soda in a large bowl

¨ Grab a food processor and put the grated soap in the bowl and add a large scoop of the mixture.

¨ Add the essential oils then mix till large fine powder.

- Tip the mixture into the remaining soda mix, then transfer into the airlight jar

HOW TO USE

Depending upon how soiled your clothes are, put 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture into the detergent tray of your machine per full load of laundry.

- If you use a cold wash (lower then 30C/85CF) soda crystels won't always fully dissolve. In this case simply dissolve the powder in a little hot water then add that to your soap dispensing drawer.
