First Holy Communion - Sunday 14 May 2023

2nd Class received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion at 12 o’clock Mass in St Patrick’s Church on Sunday 14 May. Fr Marius was the celebrant and the church choir and organist provided wonderful music.

It was a wonderful Mass and the children participated flawlessly in everything they had to do. Ms Quigley was there to accompany our singers and violinists as well. Ms Curtin had prepared the girls extremely well and they were calm and confident; a joy to witness. Our thanks to both teachers.

Following the Mass, the girls, their parents and families came back to school to enjoy the Holy Communion Breakfast provided by 1st Class parents. It was the first time since COVID that we have been able to restore this practice and it too was a huge success. Many thanks to those kind parents for their time and the beautiful celebration they laid on.

We have a tradition in our school whereby the children receiving a Sacrament have the following school day off to rest so 2nd Class stayed home on Monday. The Holy Communion girls are invited to wear their dresses in to school on the Wednesday following their Holy Communion and we get them a beautiful cake to celebrate in school. They visit as many classes as possible in the junior and secondary schools to show their special dresses.

Altogether, it is a whole school celebration of a very important occasion for the Holy Communion Class.
